Chapter 9 - Dashboard

Dashboard brings in a new element to OS X - access to small helper applications called Widgets. The Dashboard hold all of your Widgets. You can access Widgets by clicking the Dashboard icon in the Dock, or by setting up a hot corner or keybard equivalent in the System Preferences for Dashboard and Exposé (Chapter 5).

When called up, Widgets float above all other applications. To close the Dashboard, simply click the desktop. You can also customize the Dashboard to add or remove Widgets.
When the Dashboard is active, a small "+" sign in a circle shows up next to the Dock.
When you click on this "+" sign, all available Widgets appear in a tray below the Dock.

Dragging a Widget from this tray to the desktop activates the Widget. Widgets can be dragged around in any order on the desktop. To remove a Widget from being activated with the Dashboard, click the "+" sign to customize your Widgets, and click the small "x" in the top left corner of the Widget.

To stop customizing your Widgets, put the Dashboard away by clicking the small "x" sign above the Widget tray, or click the desktop.
