    2. Electronic access to the Tour Colorado PowerPoint Template (with questions embedded)


Activity Description

    1. Teacher should have read the above-referenced documents to be prepared to introduce the project and answer student questions.
    2. Teacher introduces the project to the students by providing them with an electronic or paper version of Student Instructions.
    3. Students should download the Tour Colorado PowerPoint Template and resave it with an appropriate name in an appropriate student folder, after teacher demonstrates the procedure and skills.
    4. Allow ample time to answer student questions.

  • To help students understand the importance of giving credit for the information that is acquired during the process of doing research.
  • Students will acknowledge the inclusion of ideas and quotations from other people to avoid charges of plagiarism.

Activity Description

  • Introduce the terms bibliography and citation. If your students are already familiar with what a bibliography is, you can quickly review it.
  • If not, explain to students that a bibliography is a list of citations that tell where you got your information. It includes all the books, encyclopedias, websites, and so on that you used to write your report or that you used for a project.
  • Using the ‘Bibliography Format’ demonstrate how to cite each of the sources your students could use:  books, websites, and encyclopedias.
  • Hand out the blank student forms.
  • Have each student practice citing a websource on the form.

  • Teacher models the process for completing one slide in the Tour Colorado PowerPoint template.
  • Select a clue
  • Unravel the clue
  • Place the picture and your writing in the PowerPoint Template.
  • Answer any questions the students might have.
  • Reinforce work expectations.
  • Be available for student questions as they work.
